eBay Enterprise provided e-commerce fulfillment for a client that asked to them to enhance their existing fulfillment solution to handle a peak day increase of 85%. In addition to having to develop a much more efficient solution, the timeline for whiteboarding the design, providing budget estimates, getting buy-in from eBay Enterprise, and implementing the solution was less than 12 months.
Solution The eBay Enterprise and AHS teams set-up a series of meetings, put together a detailed project schedule, assigned to-dos and went to work. Along with eBay Enterprise’s engineering team, AHS completed a detailed review of the data, analyzing non-peak and peak data and SLAs. We developed “most” models for all key functions, and developed functional specifications for the WCS. To find the most efficient solution, we reviewed all types of technology including, but not limited to, traditional order pick, batch pick and sort, goods to person, and unit sorters. Working together using AHS’ Forward Motion™ process, AHS solicited the bids, reviewed the results with eBay, selected the business partners, and managed the entire integration process.
The entire team stayed committed and followed the detailed master plan to meet the “Go Live” date. A series of stress tests simulating peak day volumes were successful. The results are very exciting with the system performing and producing the anticipated results.
