Years Servicing Client: 12
Vertical: Retail
Situation
Wal-Mart needed a Design-Build partner to assist with the fulfillment of their e-commerce business.
The multi-million dollar solution had to be designed, implemented and commissioned within 20 weeks.
The partner needed to work closely with Airborne Logistics Services (now DHL), the carrier selected by WalMart.
Solution
AHS’ Integration Services Group quickly assigned multiple resources and a single contact person to provide constant around-the-clock updates to both Airborne and Wal-Mart.
The team proposed combining Airborne’s state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS) together with AHS’ Conveyor Control System (CCS) in order to enable Airborne to fulfill the projected orders as requested by Wal-Mart.
Result
The system was tested within a couple of weeks from start-up by shipping over 8,000 orders within a 12-hour period.
With processing speeds between the WMS and CCS of less than 5 milliseconds, the system can induct over 120 cartons-per-minute to the multi-tasking, high-speed sortation system.
